Marine and superyachts

TAFE Queensland has been working with government and industry to contextualise training for the superyacht industry across a range of trade and service areas, as well as recruit and grow the workforce to meet the growth demand through stronger training pathways.

As Queensland’s public provider of vocational education and training, we are supporting the Queensland Government to achieve an increase of 10 per cent in market share.

So far, we have:

  • Successfully implemented a Regional Skills Adjustment Strategy (RSAS) to deliver just-in-time skill set training to fill localised workforce needs for employers in the Gold Coast region and support workforce skills development in welding for manufacturing, based in Caloundra for Lake Victoria (Kenya) ferries. Funding is provided through the Queensland Government.
  • Been working closely with East Coast Apprenticeships to address welding shortages at the Rivergate Marina with the superyacht specialist welding pre-vocational program.
  • Delivered ISO9606 fusion welding training for shipyards in Cairns utilising Augmented Reality welding simulators provided by the Queensland Government. This training assists experienced welders and their employers to establish globally competitive capabilities.
