Jodi assumed her current role as CEO in July 2013 to reform and revitalise TAFE in Queensland. Her priorities include the overall leadership of TAFE Queensland as an independent statutory body and ensuring it is developed into a flexible and responsive organisation that works closely with industry and the community to meet the needs of stakeholders in a commercially viable way.
Jodi joined the TAFE Queensland network in late 2005 as Director of Corporate Services at Southbank Institute of Technology. During her tenure, Jodi was integral in repositioning the institute as a specialist in the delivery of higher level certificate and diploma programs and led the development and implementation of the statutory framework and separation from the Department of Education, Training and Employment. In July 2012, she became the Deputy Director-General of Training and Employment, with full responsibility of the state's training and employment portfolio including operational oversight of TAFE, and was the senior officer responsible for input into the Skills and Training Taskforce and development of the Skills Reform Agenda, inclusive of the TAFE Reform for Queensland.
Jodi holds qualifications in marketing, accounting and market research. She is an Appointed Member of the Ministerial Queensland International Education and Training Advisory Council, Board Chair of the APTC Consortium, and holds memberships with the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Association of Tertiary Education Management.
Michael is a CPA-qualified senior executive with strong experience in not-for-profit service organisations across the training, education and health sectors.
Michael was appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for TAFE Queensland on 1 July 2014. As COO, Michael is responsible for the performance of TAFE Queensland's operating regions with a particular focus on ensuring the achievement of key TAFE Queensland-wide strategic objectives and targets. The COO role also has lead responsibility for risk and compliance management, internal and external audit coordination, pricing strategy, planning and reporting, legal services, business intelligence and asset management.
Michael has extensive experience in corporate services leadership, business planning, organisational performance management and large scale change management initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of service organisations. Prior to being appointed as Chief Operating Officer, he took a key role in the transition of TAFE Queensland to a statutory body as well as the amalgamation of the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Institutes. Michael previously held senior Corporate Services and Human Resources roles at two Queensland TAFEs, and held the Acting Institute Director position at the Bremer Institute for over two years. He has also led a range of corporate service at the Queensland Studies Authority and in the health sector at Queensland Health, Mayne Nickless and Mater Health Services.
Michael holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Management (Human Resources Management), a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance), and is a fellow of CPA Australia.
Prior to joining TAFE Queensland, Jenny was Deputy Chief Executive Canberra Institute of Technology where she was responsible for education services and business development. During 2013 Jenny took on the role of Chief Executive of Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT). CIT has more than 22,000 enrolments annually, provides programs and services in a broad range of industry disciplines at AQF 1 - 7 and has a commercial company, CIT Solutions Pty Ltd of which Jenny was also a Director.
Jenny has an extensive background across the education sector. She joined CIT in 1993 as a casual teacher and has been a Head of Department as well as Director Marketing and National Positioning prior to becoming Deputy Chief Executive and then Chief Executive. Jenny has been in the education sector for over 25 years including time with a community vocational education provider, a private training provider as well as a teacher in the schools sector for a year. Jenny is passionate about vocational education and the dual role it plays in meeting the needs of both industry and individuals. Jenny is known for her national leadership through the Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) over many years. As the ACT FLAG representative up until 2012 Jenny contributed to the formation of national policy direction in vocational education and training. She has played a particular leadership role through engaging industry and business with e-learning including facilitating many partnerships between registered training organisations and industry sectors for integrating e-learning in their workforce development. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian College of Educators, the Australian Human Resource Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.
As Chief Human Resources Officer, Tom is responsible for leading the implementation of the People and Culture strategy related to people-related systems, policy and culture, values and leadership. This work includes responsibility for leading negotiations and related strategies associated with employment conditions for TAFE Queensland employees.
Prior to his current role, Tom held the position of Executive Director, Workforce Management and Support in the Department of Education, Training and Employment where he was responsible for executive oversight of the Department's industrial relations, employment diversity, organisational health and professional development for schools, TAFE and Central Office.
Tom has been working within human resources for over 20 years and has held previous roles within government providing human resources policy advice as well as being the accountable officer for the whole-of-Government enterprise bargaining outcomes while engaged as General Manager of Public Sector Industrial Relations with the then Queensland Department of Employment and Industrial Relations.
Andrew Stuart-Murray Joined the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE as CFO in 2010 when it was one of two Statutory Authorities in the state of Queensland. During the formation of TAFE Queensland Andrew held the role of Deputy CEO at the Gold Coast for a little over a year. After this Andrew took up the position of Executive Director Operations and Performance in Brisbane.
Andrew commenced his working life in the manufacturing sector commencing as a trainee Accountant and progressing to hold the position of CFO in a number of different organisations. Andrew's first exposure to Government Service was with the Victorian Work Cover Authority where he held the position of Group Director of Resources and CFO. Andrew later moved into the Training and Education sector when he joined the Australian Institute of Management as CFO and Company Secretary.
Andrew has also held a number of Board positions over his career with private companies in the Civil Engineering sector, Automotive sector and IT sector.
As TAFE Queensland's Chief Information Officer, Dean is responsible for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Strategy development, service delivery management, ICT contract management and procurement functions and operational services for the new TAFE Queensland.
Dean has 30 years' experience in the ICT industry in operational and management roles covering IT support, systems development, infrastructure management, strategy and policy development and change implementation.
Prior to establishing the TAFE Information Services Group, Dean held a number of Director and Executive Director roles within the Department of Education, Training and Employment responsible for developing or implementing initiatives as varied as Human Resource systems, GST implementation, the ICTs for Learning Strategy, the Smart Classrooms Strategy, the Department's ICT policy framework and the integration of TAFE ICT services into the Department.
Prior to joining the Department of Education, Training and Employment Dean worked in many roles on ICT and change management projects with in state legal and land registration jurisdictions.
David St George is a marketing professional with over 20 years experience, in both consulting roles and in-house positions. His experience spans a range of industries including financial services, property and fast moving consumer goods.
David's career started in advertising where he worked for agencies including De Pasquale, Mojo and DDB in account service roles. Over the last decade David has worked in a variety of senior marketing roles including Head of Marketing for QSuper, Marketing and Place Manager for Lend Lease, Marketing Director at the Phillips Group, and Principal/Manager of Mercer's Sydney Communication Practice.
As traditional business models have been disrupted by the rise of digital technologies, David's roles over the last decade have become increasingly focused on the development and implementation of digital strategies. His experience in user-centred website design, automated marketing, social media marketing and search engine marketing has been gained through working in digital marketing consultancies with a diverse range of public and private sector clients.
Gary Kinnon commenced in the role of Acting General Manager, TAFE Queensland Brisbane on 31 October, 2016.
For 35 years, Gary has dedicated his career to Vocational Education and Training.
Commencing as a TAFE teacher in 1981, Gary then progressed into curriculum design, project management and then faculty management. With an established knowledge of both the operational and strategic requirements of a TAFE institute, Gary took on the role of Institute Director, Mt Isa Institute of TAFE in 2008 and Institute Director at Central Qld Institute of TAFE in 2011.
Gary is focussed on ensuring the quality delivery of programs to, and in partnership with, industry, associations, communities, businesses and individuals. His greatest delight is seeing students reach their potential and make their mark in their chosen profession.
Dr Paul Wilson officially joined the TAFE Queensland executive on 1 July 2014 from the Community College Gippsland in Victoria where he was Chief Executive Officer. Paul has extensive experience working across the New Zealand vocational and higher education sectors.
Robert Petherbridge is the acting General Manager, TAFE Queensland Gold Coast. Robert joined the Executive Team in 2014 as the Executive Director, Strategic Policy and Executive Services. Prior to that, Robert was the Executive Director - Skills Reform, Department of Education, Training and Employment, where his work was fundamental to the creation of TAFE Queensland as a statutory body and developing the framework for the Queensland Government's skills and training reform agenda.
Robert has also worked as Director, Vocational Education and Training Policy in the Department. In this position, Robert led the secretariat for the Queensland Skills and Training Taskforce and was responsible for developing the Government's response to the Queensland Post-Secondary Education and Training (QPET) Review. In addition, Robert has worked on a number of other major government policy initiatives including A Flying Start for Queensland Children and the implementation of the Education and Training Reforms for the Future. Prior to joining DETE in 2006, Robert worked for the Training Accreditation Council and Department of Education Services of Western Australian and the Australian National Training Authority. Robert also has experience working with the Australian Hotels Association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Australian Capital Territory.
Joann Pyne is the General Manager, TAFE Queensland North. As General Manager, Joann has the responsibility of ensuring that her region's 17 TAFE Queensland North campuses are efficient, sustainable and responsive organisations that develop individuals' skills and employment opportunities, meeting employer, industry and community needs.
Prior to joining TAFE, Joann worked in local and federal government in a variety of roles. Joann has been instrumental in developing a range of programs that have received awards and accolades for their innovative approach, unique and successful partnerships and their responsiveness to business, industry and community. Joann builds on her extensive networks throughout Queensland and is determined to ensure TAFE is seen as the premier training provider and an advocate of sustainability in Queensland. Joann is passionate about TAFE being an active learning organisation that students, employers, industry and employees are proud to be associated with.
Brent Kinnane is the acting General Manager TAFE Queensland South West. Brent has worked for TAFE Queensland since 2001 where he began as the Finance Manager and then as the Corporate Services Director at The Bremer Institute of TAFE.
In the three and half years prior to his appointment as the General Manager TQSW, Brent was the Principal Executive Officer at Queensland Agricultural Training College (QATC) reporting directly to the Board and responsible for implementing the Board strategies for Queensland's agricultural training facilities. QATC is a government owned registered training organisation and statutory authority where Brent gained significant experience in an executive and leadership position.
Brent holds a Bachelor of Business Management (Distinction) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Director of the Board of Brothers Leagues Club, Ipswich.
As General Manager, Mary is responsible for the strategic direction and overall operation of TAFE Queensland SkillsTech as the largest public provider of trade and technician training in Queensland. Prior to her appointment as General Manager, Mary held senior management positions across a number of TAFE institutes in Queensland including SkillsTech Australia, Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE and Moreton Institute of TAFE.
Mary has spent more than 25 years working in the VET sector and is passionate about all aspects of the business, but most importantly about creating real outcomes for VET students and their employers. Mary has held a number of senior leadership positions within the VET sector and brings a wealth of knowledge to her current role.
Mary is a member of the TAFE Directors Australia (TDA) Board along with CVIAQ Skills and Training Sub-Committee and the National Apprenticeship Program Steering Committee. Mary has also been involved in a number of national initiatives including the COAG Industry and Skills Council and the Alternative Pathways to Trades Industry Reference Group. Mary has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Diploma of Teaching (TAFE), Graduate Diploma in Open and Distance Learning, and a Master's Degree in Education and Learning Innovations.
