Daniel has had an interest in cars since he was a kid. He came to TAFE Queensland SkillsTech to get practical, real world skills to launch his automotive career. He loves the wonderful weather in Brisbane and spends his spare time playing soccer with friends he’s made from around the world.

Engineer your own future

Develop the practical and technical skills to design and draft various engineering applications and drawings for transport systems, pipelines, dams, bridges, high-rise buildings and plant, mining and industrial water and waste management facilities. Our courses will teach you how to set up machinery to enable the manufacture of engineering products, repair and replacing components, design and manufacture modifications to existing component parts, maintain plant and equipment, and construct and commission work

Entry requirements

  • English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other - For a list of all English Language test accepted by TAFE Queensland International
  • Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. For more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.
  • Or Successful completion of Certificate III in Engineering.

Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. Resources required

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Courses may require different resources, depending on your study location;

Other materials that may be required for assignment work will be advised in class. Recommended textbooks will be noted in the study guide, which will distributed by the teachers throughout the year. The recommended textbooks will be available from the TAFE Queensland SkillsTech library.

Students who successfully complete UEE60211 Advanced Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering can apply to continue their studies with:

  • Griffith University in a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Electronic and Computer Engineering Dual Award or
  • Griffith University in a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Electronic and Energy Engineering or
  • Griffith University in a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Microelectronic Engineering or
  • Griffith University in a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electronic and Computer Engineering or
  • University of Southern Queensland in a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Science (Computer Systems Engineering) or (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) or (Power Engineering) Dual Awards

Orientation

At the beginning of each semester orientation events are hosted across TAFE Queensland locations.

TAFE Queensland recommends you arrive two weeks prior to your course start date to allow time to organise and settle into your accommodation and prepare for your studies.

International Orientation details are emailed to you prior to commencing your studies or they can be accessed via the Orientation Schedule.

Program specific orientations are also conducted one week prior to the start of study. This is an opportunity for you to meet your teachers and classmates, get to know your campus, and familiarise yourself with your study schedule.
