Entry requirements

The course is open to students who have completed the seven Electrical Knowledge units of competency (or equivalent) as prescribed in the Clean Energy Councils accreditation pathways document.

These units can be undertaken by enrolling in the course in Foundation Electrical Units Pre Requisites - Renewable Energy Clean Energy Council Accreditation offered by TAFE Queensland SkillsTech.

Students with a strong electrical knowledge background including electricians and engineers (particularly electrical and electronics) may be granted exemption from these units.

Unit UEENEEK125A Design Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems is required for Grid Connect Accreditation which is to be undertaken prior to, and separately from the dedicated Stand-Alone Power Systems units.

Required text – it is essential that you bring these to the first day of class:

  • Introduction to Renewable Energy Technologies Resource Book (purchase from QTW approximate cost $82) Ph 1800 611 300 or 07 3261 1300
  • Stand-Alone Power System Components Resource Book (purchase from QTW approximate cost $78)
  • Required Standards – AS4509 (Once you have signed on click on: Australian Standards Online)

Please note: you cannot save these files for more than a couple of days as they disappear, so you would need to print them out.

Students failing to meet these minimum standards of dress will not be permitted entry in to practical classes.

Timetable

Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 4.00 pm, followed by a six week block to complete assignments.

On the first day of class students will meet at 8.00 am at X Block.

Important Information

UEENEEK125A Design Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems is required for Grid Connect Accreditation which can be undertaken in the Grid Connect Install Course.

The successful achievement of this course requires you to complete all mandatory and 2 elective units from the list below. These units form part of UEE62011 - Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology - Renewable Energy.

Electives may differ between TAFE Queensland locations and regions.
