What do I have to pay?

VET FEE-HELP loans are interest free. However, your loan debt will be indexed each year based on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

There is no application fee, although full fee-paying (fee-for-service) students pay a 20% loan fee. The loan fee doesn't apply to students enrolled in a Queensland Government subsidised course.

When do I pay the loan back?

The minimum repayment threshold for compulsory repayment is adjusted each year.

To find current information visit the Study Assist website.

Repayments made through the Australian taxation system will continue until you have repaid your whole debt.

Withdrawals and refunds

There are no financial or administrative barriers to prevent you from withdrawing from a VET FEE-HELP unit or course on or before the Census Date.

As long as we receive a completed withdrawal form on or before the Census Date for every unit you want to withdraw from, no VET FEE-HELP debt will be incurred for those units.

For more information about course withdrawals or refunds, view our Student Refund Policy or contact your local TAFE Queensland team.
