Information for parents

Helping your child make the important decision about where to continue their education after high school can be an intimidating job.

Assisting your kids to weigh up their ambitions, goals and dreams with the practicalities of choosing a training provider is a tough gig, so it's important to go into it well-informed and armed with all the important info you need.

Further education is not only an investment of time and money; it's an investment in your child's future. Make sure the choices they make today will stand them in good stead with employers and higher education institutions for years to come.

Some of the big questions:

  • Does your child's choice of training provider offer nationally-recognised courses?
  • Have employers in your child's chosen field heard of the provider?
  • Does the provider offer hands-on practical skills as well as theory?
  • Does the provider have a proven track record of delivering job-ready graduates to the work force?

Download our handy checklist (PDF, 73kb) to make sure your child's training provider ticks all the right boxes.
