Do either of these scenarios sound familiar to you?
You didn't get the OP you needed to get into your course. Now you're left wondering what to do.
You didn't think you wanted to go to uni so you didn't sit the QCS exam.
You have been busy with other life adventures but now want to study and you don't know where to start.
That's where we fit in. TAFE Queensland is here to help you bridge that gap so that you can get started on your university degree as soon as possible.
Check out TAFE Queensland Degrees and pathways to higher education guide 2016 for a listing of degree programs offered by TAFE Queensland and for a list of pathway options to universities and other higher education providers.
By enrolling in either a diploma or advanced diploma at TAFE Queensland you can improve your OP score or obtain an OP equivalent score so that you can get into the university course you've been dreaming about.
However, this pathway is not just for school leavers. People who are currently working, or full-time parents looking to get back into the workforce can use this pathway as a means of obtaining new skills and moving on to university.
Another added benefit of studying this way is that you can start working, using your diploma skills while you finish off your degree.
Not only does TAFE Queensland offer a pathway to university, it offers credit transfers, which means that some of our course areas cross over with the study units in some university degrees. This in turn will reduce the amount of time you need to study your chosen profession.
Did you know it is possible get a diploma from TAFE and a degree from university in the same amount of time it takes to complete a degree on its own?
This is known as a Dual Award. It combines a practical diploma with a theoretical university degree and it works like this.
Firstly you will need to complete the diploma part of the course and then move onto university to complete the degree component.
Studying in this way:
You can apply for a dual award program through QTAC in the same way you apply for any other course.
Our Adult Tertiary Preparation and Unilearn courses help you brush up your study skills so you can ace it at university. They are ideal for adult learners who have been busy with life and away from formal study.
Studying online or on location, they give you the equivalent of a year 11 and 12 certificate and the confidence you need to succeed.
