Course overview

If you want to become more efficient and organised at work using Microsoft Word and Excel, at TAFE Queensland we have the course for you!  Microsoft Office Bundle: Intermediate is designed to assist you in improving your expertise and developing your skills further by mastering the tools and features in the Microsoft Office programs.

Microsoft Word - 6 hours. In this session, using the Windows 10 platform, you will learn how to:

  • work using different document techniques
  • format text using themes, style sets, and styles
  • create a multi-level list
  • format pages
  • create and insert a table
  • position pictures and wrapping text
  • perform a mail merge.

Microsoft Excel - 6 hours. In this session, using the Windows 10 platform, you will learn:

  • how to work with rows, columns and worksheets
  • relative, absolute and named references
  • Excel Math
  • 3D formulas
  • how to use the functions: SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT
  • formatting.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

You must:

  • know the essentials of Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • have a working knowledge of personal computers;
  • be familiar with the Windows operating system, especially working with files and folders.
Resources required

Classroom delivery

  • Please bring a pen and paper for note taking, and a USB.
  • You will need to present your Confirmation of Enrolment to the car park attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.

Mixed mode delivery
You will need:

  • a personal computer or laptop to participate actively in this course. The computer must have speakers, a microphone and internet access (webcam optional).
  • to have Microsoft Office installed on your computer or laptop (we will be teaching using version 2016, however if you have a version slightly newer or older you won’t be disadvantaged).
  • a quiet and ergonomically correct work area to participate actively in this course with no or little distractions.
  • a pen and paper for taking notes.
  • You  will receive by email a Zoom meeting link in the days leading up to the first lesson.  This won’t be provided on enrolment.
  • You do not need a Zoom app or licence to attend the lessons, you can join using the URL (web link) the teacher provides if you prefer.
