Course overview

An engaging and comprehensive one-day workshop, focusing on conducting a recreational program for older persons and people of all ages with complex needs. You'll also learn how to implement interventions with older and younger people at risk of falls. An invaluable session for health workers.

This recreational program includes Tai Chi, Brain Gym, Themed Exercises, Circle of Dance, Chair Exercises to music and a structured Falls Prevention Program.

Selection criteria

While there are no formal entry requirements for this course, it is recommended that you have sound literacy and numeracy skills.

Resources required

Attendees will be provided with:

  • a DVD of all exercises
  • copies of the PowerPoint presentation

Attendees will require:

  • comfortable clothing suitable for exercise
  • comfortable closed-in shoes
  • bottled water for hydration
  • personal stationery (pen and paper)

It is also recommended that you have a valid and appropriate email address, as well as access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland locations.
