Course overview

This short course is an introduction to blacksmithing. This course will teach students how to understand metals and read temperatures. Students will also learn how to draw, bend, shape and form steel into useful objects such as tools and art.

There may be an intermediate level also available for students to progress their skills.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

You must have completed Year 10 or equivalent.

If you are under the age of 17 years, special enrolment conditions may apply.

Students will be required to wear the following:

  • Cotton drill long sleeved shirts
  • Steel capped safety boots
  • Safety glasses
