Course overview

Advanced Ceramic Project Work is suitable for students with intermediate to advanced skills in construction, for example: wheel-thrown or hand-building and a basic knowledge of glazing and firing.

The aim of the 10 sessions is to add or improve skills in a student’s chosen area in consultation with the teacher. The fee includes the glazing and firing of the pottery pieces you produce in class.  This ten week course is delivered face-to-face by experienced potter and teacher.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

You must have enough prior experience to undertake individual and self-guided ceramic projects.

Completion of an introductory Wheel-Thrown Pottery short course (or equivalent experience) is a minimum.

Please discuss with teacher if unsure.

Resources required

You will be required to wear covered shoes in the studio at all times.

You will need to bring:

  • all your own clay and any specialist materials that may be specific to your research, for example: underglazes or lustres.
  • P2 dust mask
  • an old towel
  • a large sponge for cleaning wheels
  • a lidded bucket for recycling
  • a journal, pen, pencil and a plastic ruler.
