Course overview

This skill set is the most contemporary nationally recognised fatigue management training available for those operating of heavy vehicles (Truck and Bus) under the National Heavy Vehicle Law. The course involves learning the necessary knowledge and skills required for transport operators, directors, managers, supervisors, designated record keeper and schedulers to administer a fatigue system and work safely within the Transport and Logistics industry. The competency applies to companies and transport operators seeking Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) or Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) fatigue risk management accreditation under National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).

The administer fatigue risk management strategies course will include identifying and managing risks associated with fatigue in heavy vehicle driving, how to operate within a fatigue risk management system, how to implement and monitor fatigue management strategies and recognises and minimises fatigue management breaches within policies, procedures and regulations, how to implement reasonable steps through influence and control to prevent non-conformances, plan trips and update records, and develop and assess staff competence in fatigue management.

The day course is conducted face to face either at your workplace or on campus.

Selection criteria

This is a commercial product delivered to students currently working in the transport industry. Employers are encouraged to contact TAFE Queensland to discuss how we can meet the needs of your organisation.

Resources required

You will require all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) relevant to your workplace for practical activities. This includes the use of safety glasses, protective footwear with covered uppers, steel capped toes and non-slip soles to AS2210, and long sleeve high-visibility shirts and long trousers.
