Course overview

This short course is designed for small businesses to learn how to create and manage their own Facebook advertising.  It would suit people with an intermediate level of marketing and technology skills.

Throughout this short course students will be guided through:

  • The importance of social media
  • The importance of the Facebook pixel and retargeting
  • The major difference between boosting posts and using Ads Manager
  • The algorithm and Facebook funnel
  • The components of a successful ad
  • Laser targeting your audience (creating a saved, custom and lookalike audience)
  • Navigating through Business Manager
  • Analysing the results of your ad
  • Scaling your successful ad
  • Creating an ad

Students will leave this course with a LIVE Facebook ad for their business.

It would benefit students to have previously completed our Small Business Marketing courses.

Please note this is a BYOD (bring your own device) short course with hands on support from the facilitator.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria
  • You must have an existing Facebook business page.
  • You must have Ads Manager and Business Manager set up.
  • You must be confident using a laptop/device as computer skills are a must for this course.
Resources required

Classroom delivery

  • BYOD (bring your own laptop/device) to use for each lesson.
  • Portable Wi-Fi would be an advantage; however there is Wi-Fi available on campus.
  • Bring pen and paper for note taking.

Mixed mode delivery
You will need:

  • a personal computer or laptop to participate actively in this course. The computer must have speakers, a microphone and internet access (webcam optional).
  • a quiet and ergonomically correct work area to participate actively in this course with no or little distractions.
  • a pen and paper for taking notes.
  • You will receive by email a Zoom meeting link in the days leading up to the first lesson. This won’t be provided on enrolment.
  • You do not need a Zoom app or licence to attend the lessons, you can join using the URL (web link) the teacher provides if you prefer.
Need to know

For privacy reasons - Online lessons are not to be recorded or photographed by attendees and sessions are not to be shared on any other platform. 
Online lessons are also not recorded by facilitators.
