Course overview

Introducing sustainable practices to children at an early age provides them with an understanding of the environment and nature. Children will learn how to respect the natural environment, build essential life skills that support and enrich their environment.

This workshop will provide meaningful ways to engage children in daily practices where they can create a sustainable learning environment and begin to understand how this can impact on the larger community. It will empower children and adults with strategies to change their ways of thinking, being and acting to minimise environmental impacts and enhance sustainable practices.

The goal of this workshop is to empower care providers/educators to guide their children’s learning in the framework and enable them to become responsible for their environment- QA1; QA2; QA3; QA5; QA6.

Outcomes from this session include the ability for you as a care provider/educator to create amazing and inspiring new ways of turning trash into treasure using recycled goods that can then in turn be recycled to promote sustainability within the home, community and environment.

  • how to re-purpose my recyclable goods
  • Reinvent ways to create growth (seedlings) with household items
  • create new and interesting craft projects
  • use time with young minds to create and educate through junk to treasure projects
  • share recipes for making safe paint/dough for use in play
  • how to create playground effects on a small scale using household items
