According to the Australian Government “Australian Jobs 2021” report, the construction industry represents around 9% of workers in Australia and a significant number of new jobs have been added in recent years. In particular, technicians and trade workers in the construction industry account for 32% of workers. Construction Skills Queensland estimates a state-wide construction industry labour shortage of 20% in response to the boom in new housing as well as large infrastructure projects in the pipeline, including the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics. Now is the time to consider a construction trade for your future career!
The Get Ready for Tiling short course will introduce you to the trade where you will learn to use wall and floor tiling tools, equipment and materials, and cover topics including preparing surfaces for tile application, fixing floor and wall tiles, mosaic and decorative tiling and much more! You will also learn about workplace health and safety, develop an understanding of the Building and Construction industry and learn about the possible career pathways available.
This intensive two week course provides hands-on training delivered by industry-experienced teachers and on-site industry work experience.
Upon successful completion of this short course you will be well placed to seek an apprenticeship as a tiler in the Construction industry. To further your employability opportunities you will be able to enrol into the Construction Industry White Card course for no additional fee (not required if you already hold a White Card).

You will be required to undertake one week (5 days) of work experience.
TAFE Queensland will be able to assist in finding work experience placements, our teachers are well connected with their industries.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
