Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Selection criteria
To take part in this course, you will need to be a:
- Queensland resident
- be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
TAFE Queensland strongly recommends:
- Sound achievement in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent
- Car and Licence: highly recommended to get to and from construction sites for mandatory work experience – usually a 6:30/7.00am start.
Resources Required
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
Students are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- protective footwear: Steel Capped safety boots (no Volleys)
- protective clothing: Clean shorts or long cotton pants (no track suit pants) and clean t-shirt or short sleeved shirt (no singlets)
Placement
You will be required to undertake one week (5 days) of work experience.
TAFE Queensland will be able to assist in finding work experience placements, our teachers are well connected with their industries.
Need to know
- This course not intended for hobbyist or home DIY, it is to determine suitability for an apprenticeship.
- Work experience will be arranged by teachers who are well connected with their Industries
- The Construction Industry White Card Course will be completed during the first week of training.
- If you already hold a White Card, please bring it with you for the first day of training. It will be required for the work experience component of the course
