Course overview

This online course comprises of six topics and has two main objectives. The first objective is to provide the participants with a basic knowledge of 3D scanning and its industry applications. The second objective is to give the participants an understanding of the workflow and the process involved in getting these scans to create immersive VR and AR experiences. The course will cover both point cloud and photogrammetry types of scan.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

This non-accredited course is targeted towards people working in immersive technologies or any of the following industries, but not limited to:

Engineering, Drafting and Building Design, Interior Design, Digital Design, Health, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical and all other areas within the Creative Industries area.

Resources Required

Minimum requirement: access to a computer with basic software applications.

To undertake optional practical activities:

  • smartphone
  • 3D scanner e.g. LiDAR scanner integrated with a new model of iPhone Pro and iPad Pro
  • VR capable computer with VR headset

University Pathways.

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
