Get the skills you need to provide CRP and advanced first aid in community and workplace settings with this accredited skill set.

This course will give you advanced first aid skills including how to respond to an emergency situation, apply appropriate first aid procedures, coordinate first aid activities until the arrival of medical assistance, accurately communicate details to emergency services, and recognise and seek support for possible psychological impacts on self and others. You'll also learn how to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Successful completion of this course will allow you provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by Australian national peak clinical bodies.

Entry requirements

The skill set Performance Evidence requires that:

You must be physically able to complete a range of specific practical assessment tasks during scheduled clinical simulation to address assessment requirements:

  • performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
  • performing at least 2 minutes of ventilation and at least 2 minutes of compression during a two-rescuer procedure on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
  • performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface

You will also require access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland locations.

Need to know

You will be provided with pre-reading and are required to attend 2 consecutive days of face-to-face training (approximately 6 hours per day).
