Responsible Service of Online Wagering

Micro-credential

A culture of responsible service within the online wagering sector is essential to minimising potential gambling harms. As the use of online wagering continues to grow, so too does the harm associated with risky gambling. It is important that staff are trained to interact with customers and follow their own organisational processes to identify signs that indicate a customer may be experiencing harms associated with gambling. Staff should check their internal policies, which will prepare them to not only identify indicators of risky gambling, but to respond in a responsible manner. This includes the offer of information on relevant consumer protections and support services. Your employer may have additional policies and procedures relating to the escalation of concerns about a customer’s behaviour. It is important to read these documents, so you are aware of what your role is in relation to these matters, how to respond appropriately and when to escalate a situation.
