Course overview

The third sustainability course in our Introduction to Sustainable Living: Bundle provides tips and tricks for cultivating sustainable and money saving habits at home.

Topics covered include:

  • improving family habits
  • good housekeeping
  • good appliance and furniture selection
  • the concept of embodied energy and lifecycle analysis
  • the art of recycling 
  • composting and worm farming

Learning takes place face to face on campus and will include a presentation, demonstrations and practical group activities.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Resources required

You are required to bring along a laptop computer capable of connecting to the internet to undertake online interactive activities and a USB for saving files.

Need to know

There will be an excursion to a local community garden in lesson 6 and you will need to find your own transport to and from the venue. This will be discussed with you in the first lesson.

  • We recommend using public transport or
  • If you are driving, BEFORE you arrive, please download the EasyPark App, set up your account and in the Search bar at top of the screen, search for "QLD - TAFE" and select this as your location. We highly recommend you download the app and enter the details prior to arriving as there may be no signal in the basement.
  • ​Parking can be accessed via Paddington Place. ONLY park in the spaces marked with the Red TAFE Queensland logo on the ground on either B1 or B2 to avoid being fined by Easy Park. 
    Please be aware that parking spaces can fill early.

Please note: The Seedpod Cafe on site at our Robina Campus is not open for business on the weekend or in the evenings so you are advised to bring your own refreshments.
​The Green Fields restaurant & bar on site at our Robina Campus is open from 4pm-9pm most days of the week. Green Fields information.
