Course overview

If welding has become a common part of your residential and commercial work, this short course will provide the benchmarks for visual inspection requirements and allow builders to perform to the minimum standard outlined in AS/NZS 1554.1 GP for welding of temporary or permanent steel structures. This practical course will consist of an introduction to AS/NZS1554.1 GP – Welding Steel Structures and outline the minimum levels of imperfections required to meet general purpose (GP) structural steel welding.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Some welding experience preferred.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes. This includes the use of safety glasses, protective footwear with covered uppers, steel capped toes and non-slip soles to AS2210, welding shield and welding gloves. You should also wear long sleeved 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.
