Take your career in locksmithing to the next level with this advanced, post trade qualification. Develop the specialised skills and knowledge required to become a workshop or service manager. Today's locksmiths go well beyond locks and keys, drawing their business from a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, government or automotive. Improve your skills and knowledge and work on exciting and varied projects.

You will develop high level locksmithing industry skills. You will also develop a range of managerial skills that will set you on the path to a variety of supervisory and management positions. Our industry-experienced teachers will support you all the way.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to work as a locksmithing workshop manager or service manager.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes. This includes the use of safety glasses, protective footwear with covered uppers, steel capped toes and non-slip soles to AS2210, leather gloves to AS2161, and hair protection. You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
