Course overview

Course overview

Progress your bricklaying/blocklaying career by completing this hands-on qualification with TAFE Queensland. Become a qualified tradesperson in bricklaying or blocklaying.

As the construction industry becomes more specialised, shortages of bricklayers/blocklayers are emerging. Workers in this area are likely to be in demand with up to 25,000 job openings expected in the next five years.

In this course you will apply the skills you have learned at work and continue to develop your ability to work with building materials to build veneer or full brick constructions. You will work with clay, concrete, masonry and other building materials to create walls, partitions, arches, steps, stairs and other brick or block constructions. You'll learn how to build curved structures and create ornamental brickwork.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work in building trades as a qualified bricklayer or blocklayer.
