Course overview

Delivered in partnership with the University of Canberra, this degree takes a unique, multidisciplinary approach that leads to innovative thinking and design practice. With a focus on the issues of sustainability, climate change, globalisation, new technologies and social consciousness, innovation lives at the core of our approach.

The majority of study will take place in a design studio environment and on a project basis. This integrates with technical studies, industry engagement and research-led teaching. You can choose to major in a combination of design strategies, design communication, and design studio.

You will learn the aesthetic, functional, economic and socio-political dimensions of design, to be ready to work in an exciting, complex and multidisciplinary industry.

Selection criteria

Semester 2, 2018 August 6 applications are for second year entry only.

Second year entry requirements for this qualification are;

  • Completion of a relevant TAFE Queensland diploma, such as:
    • MSF50213 Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration
    • CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design
    • CUA50715 Diploma of Graphic Design
  • Or, completion of a relevant Diploma:
    • CUV50311 Diploma of Graphic Design
    • 10045NAT Graduate Certificate in Architectural Digital Illustration

These diplomas awards a full year's credit towards this degree. You can gain credit for diplomas in other study areas; however the credit arrangement may differ. Call us for information on your credit options.

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access University of Canberra’s online learning system Moodle and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
