Course overview

This skill set was developed by industry and is essential for those required to act as a safety observer and perform rescues from live low voltage (LV) panels, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in times of emergency.

Training includes undertaking a risk assessment and implementing control measures, accessing and isolating a low voltage panel, removing a victim in contact with electrically-live equipment and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary.

Completion of this course will make you more mobile across the electrical supply industry.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes. This includes the use of protective footwear with covered uppers and non-slip soles to AS2210. You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.

Important information

The Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 now requires anyone acting as a safety observer for live electrical work to be competent to assist the person performing the work. You must have been assessed within the last 12 months to be competent in both rescue and resuscitation (the CPR component).
