Develop your skills with this entry-level course and gain the skills and knowledge required to carry out investigations and assess regulatory compliance. This addition to your existing skills and experience will be of benefit for employment opportunities, with steady growth being experienced in roles for inspectors and regulatory officers.

The generalist qualification covers a broad range of skills required to operate without supervision in a government investigations environment. You will learn how to plan, initiate, conduct and finalise an investigation.

The regulatory compliance specialisation covers the skills required by those responsible for ensuring statutory compliance with the requirements of legislation, regulations, and organisational policy. You will learn how to conduct an investigation, assess and act on non compliance, review and evaluate investigations, and identify and apply legal frameworks.

Successful completion of this course will develop your skills and knowledge in areas of regulatory compliance, and will prepare you to work as a government investigator. This course will also lay the foundation to complete further study.

Entry requirements

You must have completed year 10 or equivalent.
If you're under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions apply.

Resources required

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Need to know

Study is structured into fixed intakes which have set durations (completion date is 12 weeks from the commencement date of each intake). Study can be commenced at the beginning of each intake.

When studying online it is strongly recommended students follow the preferred order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake, unless otherwise advised.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
