In this course you will gain a well-developed command of technique in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural arts. Develop yourself as an artist and produce work that expresses your own cultural identity. Prepare stencils and screens for textile printing and experiment with techniques to produce paintings.
Successful completion of this course will prepare you to produce art and work in the Arts Industry.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Students must be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
Students should also have the language, literacy and numeracy skills to study at Certificate IV level with reasonable support.
It is also a recommendation that interested applicants possess some relevant art or design skills and knowledge prior to entry e.g. drawing or particular art techniques.
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
You will also be required to have access to and bring to class some art materials and supplies. Details will be provided after enrolment or during orientation.
Students are required to wear covered shoes at all times when working in the studio.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
