Course overview

Begin your IT career in Australia with this entry-level dual qualification that will give you the skills to work as a web developer or designer. Qualified workers in the ICT industry have many options for employment and further education. Demand for ICT support technicians and web developers is expected to grow by as much as 50,000 new positions over the next five years.

Learn best-practice techniques for developing modern web infrastructure including how to design, develop, and administrate websites in cloud-hosting environments using up-to-date web frameworks and content management systems (CMS). You will get practical skills and knowledge in markup with CSS and HTML as well as integration of server-side and client-side technologies with databases, PHP script and JavaScript. Throughout your studies you will create a portfolio-quality, dynamic web project of moderate complexity.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as an ICT technician, web designer or developer. It will also give you the foundation knowledge needed to complete further studies in your field.

Selection criteria

Domestic Students
There are no Selection criteria requirements for Domestic Students

 

International Students
The following Selection criteria requirements apply only to International Students:

  • English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other - View a list of all English Language test accepted by TAFE Queensland International
  • Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. View more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.

Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Need to know

Replacement Program 
This program has been replaced by ICT30118 - Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology, as of 29 January 2019. Please note: a 12 month transition period, from this date, applies to enable current students to complete their study. If required, enrolment will be transitioned into the replacement qualification.
