Course overview

Develop introductory skills and knowledge needed for website development. This course is perfect if you want to gain basic work in this expanding industry, add to your existing digital skills, or pursue further studies in this area. The web development and multimedia industries are among the fastest growing with up to 50,000 job openings anticipated over the next five years.

This course covers basic HTML, cascading style sheets, how to style text, adding borders and basic positioning, legal and practical requirements for building accessible websites, and how to select a web hosting service to meet the current and future needs of a client. You will receive one-one-one support from industry leaders who understand the technical aspects of the job and are ahead of the game in innovation and development.

Upon completing this course you'll be ready to pursue basic work in website development. This course is also an ideal pathway towards our Diploma of Website Development.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

Direct entry, year 10 or equivalent.

If you're under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Need to know

When studying online it is strongly recommended students follow the preferred order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake, unless otherwise advised.
