Course overview

Studio lighting in a professional studio is an exciting and creative environment where you can express your unique vision and ideas. It is essential learning for photographers wanting to expand their knowledge base and create amazing images.

This short course is an excellent introduction to professional photography and our accredited diploma courses.

You will be introduced to:

  • Professional equipment including TTL flash, Pro-flash-heads, soft- boxes, umbrellas, reflectors, snoots, flash-meters
  • Techniques such as key light and fill light
  • White on white (high key)
  • Low key lighting
  • Product lighting, flat lay setup / still life lighting
  • Creative lighting set ups and techniques for studio and location shooting

You will set up lighting for your own studio shoot and edit the photos in class. Classes will consist of hands-on shooting using professional photographic equipment in addition to lighting theory and examples covered in class.

This course is an excellent opportunity to experience photo studio shooting without the extra cost of studio and equipment rental.

Post-processing and editing of images using both in-class images and their own.
