SSCHC0003 Introduction to Leisure and Health Skill Set
Make the next move in your career in the community services and health sectors. This skill set is perfect for people who want an introduction across a diverse range of fields in both health and community services, including working with people supported by the NDIS.
This course will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge you need to contribute to planing and conducting recreational programs, working with people with mental health issues, and following safe work practices for direct client care. Our highly-experienced teachers are at the top of their game and will give you the one-on-one guidance you need to succeed in your studies.
Successful completion of this course will give you a foundation to continue with further studies at a certificate IV level or higher. You may also find work in community services and health settings as an activities assistant, recreational therapy assistant, aged care recreation assistant, or in a range of other areas including mental health and disability.

The successful achievement of this skill set requires you to complete all units listed below. You will also be required to undertake 120 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.

Courses delivered on campus may have a combination of online and classroom based learning. Students are expected to undertake additional personal study to complete the course requirements.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
You will be required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of industry experience spread across the duration of your study. This may be in the context of paid work, or as a student in a formal vocational placement. If you are not currently working in the industry, our teaching team will source volunteer placement for you.
No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
