Develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to gain an apprenticeship with this introductory painting and decorating short course.
There is strong demand for qualified painters and decorators with up to 50,000 job openings expected over the next five years. Increased specialisation within the construction industry means you will be well-placed for employment if you continue to and complete an apprenticeship.
In a range of settings you will learn to use practical painting and decorating tools, equipment and materials, and cover topics including surface preparation, decorative finishes, industrial protective coatings, and more. You will also learn about occupational health and safety, gain a White Card, and develop an understanding of the industrial structure, work organisation and possible career pathways. This intensive two week course provides hands-on training delivered by industry-experienced teachers and on-site industry work experience.
Upon successful complete of this short course you will be well placed to seek an apprenticeship in the painting and decorating industry. You will also gain a White Card (CPCCWHS1001) – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
