Are you new to online promotion and advertising and simply don’t know what to do? Or perhaps, you already have a website and a social media presence that doesn’t seem to be working?

Just being online or having a business social media presence doesn't normally mean automatic success. Your online activities, not unlike any other marketing activity must generate a suitable return and this program is designed to help you understand how you can do it.  

The “Basics of Online Promotion and Social Media” course is available as either a standalone course, or as part of our Small Business Marketing: Bundle. With a duration of 3 weeks, this course introduces the what, where, when, who, how and most importantly the why of online promotion.

Have you heard of the following; SEO, SEM, PPC, Blog, Keyword, Google Ads, PageRank, Backlink, EDM, Boosted Post, SnapAds or even Hashtag? Do you really know what these mean? More importantly would you like to learn why and how these tools help to build a better online presence for your business? Each of the sessions in this program aim at demystifying and providing some basic practical experience in the complex world of online promotion.

Then there is social media! For businesses, social media promotion — when used correctly, can help build your brand and assist you in developing a loyal client or customer base. Using social media for business is different to using it personally, and this program also provides some basic hands-on practical opportunities dedicated to training those in attendance some of the strategies used by social media marketers. Effective social media promotion is not just for big business. Did you know that of the three million plus business pages on Facebook, more than 50% of these are manage by people in small businesses? Be introduced to the power of social media and how this can be used to continue your online influence.

Enrolling means that you are committing yourself to study, and to paying the associated fees. Resources required

  • Please bring a pen and paper for note taking and a USB stick.
  • Students attending classes need to present their Confirmation of Enrolment to the car park attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
