Statement of Participation
Tinker Labs are practical workshops to develop valuable skills in IoT. We introduce new tools and skills that are used by those in; STEM, Makers, DIY’s, Engineers, Designers, Startups, Inventors, and Creators in general.
This Lab will introduce Flow Programming with a friendly graphical user interface. We cover the basics of nodes, including; configuration, connections, and simple API’s.
We will use the Raspberry Pi to create some simple control systems with a User Interface. Using a Puck and simple buttons to control services and outputs.
This course is a must for anyone involved in the following; STEM’s, computing, IoT, electronics, security systems, home automation, robotics, teaching, automation.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.Learn more about university pathways

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
You should be confident using computers and the internet and comfortable with learning technical jargon.
Completion of Fundamental of IoT and Tinker Labs 1 and 2 is essential.
Participants will need to bring a preloaded “Tinker Labs Pi Kit”. From Labs 1 & 2.
Participants will need to bring a “Tinker Labs Electronic Starter Kit”.
It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
