Tinker Labs 6 - Firebase Cloud Functions
Statement of Participation
Tinker Labs are practical workshops to develop valuable skills in IoT. We introduce new tools and skills that are used by those in; STEM, Makers, DIY’s, Engineers, Designers, Startups, Inventors, and Creators in general.
This Lab will introduce some new feature of Firebase that bring your Apps to life. Data works when we combine it with processing and meaningful storage.
We will setup a simple cloud database and implement some processes with server-less architecture. This includes a brief guide to a well designed IoT ecosystem.
This course is a must for anyone involved in the following; STEM’s, computing, IoT, electronics, security systems, home automation, robotics, teaching, automation.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas will give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.Learn more about university pathways

Completion of Fundamentals of IoT - the Internet of Things is highly recommended.
Completion of the following is essential;
An understanding of information systems is beneficial.
An ability to use computers and internet browsers essential.
Participants should be comfortable with learning technical jargon.
A preloaded Raspberry Pi “Tinker Labs Kit” from previous Labs 1 & 5.
A pre-setup Firebase project from previous Labs.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
