Course overview

This very popular course is designed for students who have completed French Conversation - Level 4 or have an equivalent level gained from previous studies (feel free to contact the teacher to discuss your level).  The focus of this course is to help reinforce your speaking and listening skills whilst further discovering the French culture.

This is a blended learning program that combines digital media with traditional classroom methods. It offers numerous conversational activities to be practised with your classmates and a selection of audio and video material on French culture with a focus on travelling in France, its regions and tourist activities.

Topics include:

  • Comprehensive phonetic review:
    • Application: master complex sounds found on maps, tourist brochures and websites
  • Present tenses:
    • Application: describe your current plan for the day
  • Past tenses:
    • Application: recount to a friend your latest travelling experience
  • Future tenses:
    • Application: talk about your future travelling plan
  • The French equivalents of “I’d like to", "how would I", "I need some information please"
    • Application: interact with the locals whilst getting some advice at the information desk, the train and bus station, in the Parisian subway, and at museums.

In the final class students will be encouraged to participate in a luncheon at a French venue on the Gold Coast.  This will be a fun opportunity to practise your French speaking skills.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.

Direct entry, year 10 or equivalent.
