This introductory short course designed for small business owners covers the foundation skills required to promote a small business through online promotion and social media.
Statement of Participation
It is a known fact that no business can survive unless it has customers. The questions are, how do your potential customers know about your business and what gives you a competitive edge over your competition? The answer is marketing – and a major step is understanding that marketing is much more than traditional advertising and that any promotional activity is required to generate a suitable return.
This five session learning package is a combination of two short courses that are also available as standalone programs:
1. Promotion for Small Business
2. Basics of Online Promotion and Social Media
The first two sessions of this program (weeks 1 and 2) introduce the basic concepts of marketing to small business operators in order for the best promotional opportunities to be determined. Learn how you can define and best reach your real customers! The knowledge and skills you gain will be invaluable and could save you from costly mistakes that result from using the incorrect promotional medium. Sessions three and four (weeks 3 and 4) then introduce the what, where, when, who, how and most importantly the why of online promotion.
Have you heard of the following; SEO, SEM, PPC, Blog, Keyword, Google Ads, PageRank, Backlink, EDM, Boosted Post, SnapAds or even Hashtag? Do you really know what these mean? More importantly would you like to learn why and how these tools help to build a better online presence for your business? Each of the sessions in this program aim at demystifying and providing some basic practical experience in the complex world of online promotion.
Session five (week 5) is dedicated to social media. For businesses, social media promotion - when used correctly, can help build your brand and assist you in developing a loyal client or customer base. Using social media for business is different to using it personally, and this session also provides some basic hands-on practical opportunities dedicated to training those in attendance some of the strategies used by social media marketers. Effective social media promotion is not just for big business.
As this program is designed for both business owners and those in a position of building brand awareness it is also recommended as a professional development course.
This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.
