This course is perfect for students wanting equip themselves with the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to get their career on track.

Week 1: Resume writing and LinkedIn profiles

  • Develop the skills needed to write a resume that will meet applicant tracking system requirements (resume filter software).
  • Gain a better understanding of the relevant and specific information to be included in a resume.
  • Learn how to create/improve LinkedIn profiles and reach more recruiters.

Week 2: Interview preparation and skills

  • Develop your interview skills and gain confidence to formulate responses to routine questions.
  • Gain an understanding of behavioural based questions (for public service interviews) and how to provide appropriate responses.

Week 3: Government selection criteria

  • Learn how to apply STAR format (required for jobs in government).
  • Learn how to interpret capability framework, including one page pitches.

Week 4: Cover letters/job searching and mentoring program

  • Learn how to write a cover page that will attract the attention of recruiters.
  • Develop skills in identifying job opportunities and potential employers.
  • The opportunity to sign up for career mentoring program conducted over 3 months.
