Course overview

Get qualified to safely isolate low voltage fixed wired control devises, use a portable appliance tester, and test electrical equipment as per Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760. This accredited skill set is designed for people who hold a relevant certificate III or equivalent qualification in the areas of instrumentation and control or electronics and communications.

You will gain skills in working safely on control devices, identifying supply arrangements and following isolation procedures. You'll also discover how to select and use testing and measuring devices, safety test and report on control devices, as well as terminate and connect cables and conductors to Australian Standards.

This skill set meets the industry requirements for Restricted Electrical Licence - Disconnection / Reconnection of fixed wired low voltage control devices.

Entry requirements

While there are no formal entry requirements for this skill set, it is recommended that you have sound literacy and numeracy skills. You will be required to interpret and apply AS/NZS 3760, as well as enter and record results using electronic or paper-based reporting systems.

Resources required

A valid email address, access to a computer, closed in shoes, personal stationary. Students are invited to bring their own portable appliance tester if desired.
