Course overview

This higher-level qualification will see you gain expertise in the use of computer aided drafting (CAD).  The skills covered in this course apply to wide range of engineering disciplines.

You will learn how to interpreting technical drawings, prepare the CAD environment, create 2D and 3D drawings using CAD systems, and produce output including linked bills of materials. You all also learn how to use computing technology to access, input and store information used in manufacturing, engineering or related environments.

Successful completion of this course will allow you to produce 2D and 3D engineering drawings to Australian Standards.

Selection criteria

If prerequisite units MEM09002B Interpret technical drawing and MEM16008A Interact with computing technology are not currently held then these units will be integrated into the course of study and require enrolment

Resources required

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
