According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, there is very strong future job growth predicted for web developers. Employers are looking for qualified candidates who can communicate clearly, work well in a team, and have strong interpersonal skills.

Learn how to analyse project requirements to produce component specialisations, build using rapid application development (RAD) tools, and use structured query language (SQL) to define, create, and manipulate database structures. You will also discover how to create and maintain websites in cloud hosting environments, understand Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and create web based programs. 

Successful completion of double diploma course will qualify you to work as a website or database developer across a variety of business contexts.

Selection criteria

No formal entry requirements, TQ has the following selection criteria for this qualification:

  • School leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies.
  • If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

Resources required

You will be required to have a 500gb-1Tb SSD / HDD or own laptop.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
