Course overview

Course overview

Sponsorship is a form of advertising in which companies pay to be associated with certain events or causes.

Sponsorships are the financial or in-kind support of activities. Businesses often sponsor events, trade shows, groups, or charity causes to reach specific business goals and objectives. When the sponsorship of a non-profit or charitable event is involved, the sponsorship activity is often referred to as event marketing or cause marketing. A company can benefit in many ways from sponsorship.

The first session of this program (week 1) introduces the basic concepts of sponsorship and the steps to acquiring sponsorship for business.

Session 2 (week 2) focuses on types of sponsorship, examples of sponsorship, how to get sponsored and inventory building. Understanding your situation and strengths before you approach sponsors (SWOT analysis) is the focus of Session 3 (week 3).

Session 4 (week 4) you will begin to build your own sponsorship proposal/ package and in Session 5 (week 5) we will focus on managing sponsorship (sponsorship activation and fulfilment) and Return on Investment (ROI).

As this program is designed for both business owners and those in a position of sponsorship or marketing it is also recommended as a professional development course.
