If you are interested in providing online coaching, training, instruction, meetings or social meet ups via web conferencing, this course has been designed with you in mind.

Learn practical, creative and engaging ways to connect with clients and the community online. This course is suitable if you have a basic level of technology or are new to online web conferencing and you want to explore what else is possible.

Throughout this short course, you will be guided through:

  • the products available for online video web conferencing (free and subscription options);
  • how to create a professional virtual office in your own home that looks good online;
  • how to achieve the best video and audio quality;
  • learn about content sharing tools that are available for use during live web meetings;
  • explore creative ways to make meetings more interactive and engaging for clients; 
  • learn ways to stay connected to your community and maintain positive online connections;
  • explore several online teaching, learning, coaching, sharing and collaborative tools that make it easy and accessible for all of your clients no matter their age or experience with technology;
  • practical hands on experience facilitating a live video web presentation.

Please note that this course is delivered entirely via live video web conferencing. The hands on support from your facilitator is provided remotely.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Resources required

You will need:

  • a personal computer or laptop to participate actively in this course. The computer must have speakers, a microphone and internet access (webcam optional).
  • a quiet and ergonomically correct work area to participate actively, with little or no distractions.
  • a pen and paper for note taking.

You will receive by email a Zoom meeting link in the days leading up to the first lesson, this will not be provided at time of enrolment.

It would be beneficial if you have a free Zoom account and a free Skype account set up prior to the session.

You will not need a Zoom app or licence to attend the lessons, you can join using the URL (web link) provided by the teacher if you prefer.

Need to know

The lessons are structured as follows:

  • 5.00 pm - 6.00 pm - in the first 1 hour of each lesson (5.00 pm – 6.00 pm prior to the course content starting) - you can enter the Zoom session with the facilitator to test your set up, troubleshoot your audio and video problems and prepare to start your lesson.
  • 6.00 pm - 8.00 pm the course content commences.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
