Course overview

Help Queensland slow the spread of COVID-19. This skill set will prepare you to follow basic organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures and is suitable for people who work in the retail industry.

In this course you'll learn how to follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control. Discover how to implement standard and transmission-based precautions, and respond to infection risks in the workplace. You'll also discover how to identify, separate, and clean contaminated zones with a heightened level of diligence.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

The cost of this skill set is covered by the Queensland Government. However, eligibility criteria applies. For you to be eligible, you need to be:

  • a Queensland resident;
  • aged 15 years or over and no longer at school;
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency; and
  • an existing worker in the retail industry (proof of existing worker eligibility can be your payslip that displays the ABN and Trading name, letter from your employer, your employment contract).

 

You will also need to have:

  • sound literacy and numeracy skills and a proficient level of English; and
  • basic level of computer literacy including web searches, uploading documents, navigation of online learning platform and resources.

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. 

Need to know

You will be required to undertake a 1 hour online orientation as part of this course.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
