Course overview

Each week you will face a different topic and a the end of this course you will be able to share your opinions, ask other students their opinions, ask questions, give advice, use idiomatic expressions and gain a better knowledge of the Italian culture.

The fluency in spoken Italian will improve your confidence in workplaces with Italians and your connection between family and friends with an Italian background.

The teacher is a native Italian speaker.

The classes will take place once a week and will last 120 minutes each. You only need a broadband internet connection and a device with a webcam and speakers. The teacher will share their screen and show you presentations and videos during your lesson.

Class resources are adapted to meet your individual levels and needs; the teacher will email these to you before and after the class (if you would like to continue your learning). The class will also revise some grammar points as needed.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

This course is recommended to students who have previously completed the Italian for Beginners - Level 1 course of if you have intermediate or advanced knowledge of the Italian language.

Resources required

  • a personal computer or laptop to participate actively in this course. The computer must have speakers, a microphone and internet access (webcam optional).
  • a quiet and ergonomically correct work area to participate actively in this course with no or little distractions.
  • a pen and paper for taking notes.
  • You will receive by email a Zoom meeting link in the days leading up to the first lesson.  This won’t be provided on enrolment.
  • You do not need a Zoom app or license to attend the lessons, you can join using the URL (web link) the teacher provides if you prefer.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
