Course overview

Excel is a key tool in the workplace and an essential skill for many roles. This short course is an accredited skill set and will give you the practical skills and knowledge required to create spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. 

During the four-week course you will learn how to: enter, analyse, share and manage you day-to-day workplace data; create and work with spreadsheets which may include sound document design; and create, format and print spreadsheets that contain simple formulas and basic functions. You'll also learn how to apply key functions in Excel including using basic formulas, VLOOKUP, IF function, and SUMIF function.

Successful completion of this course will maximise your skills and confidence and equip you to effectively use Microsoft Excel in the workplace.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

While there are no formal entry requirements, it is expected that you will have:

  • basic computing knowledge;
  • sound literacy and numeracy skills; and
  • completed Year 10 or are 16 years of age or older.

Resources required

You will require a windows-based computer with Microsoft Excel application for self-directed study from home as well as personal stationery including pen and paper.

Need to know

Please ensure you that you enrol a minimum of one week prior to the workshop you wish to attend. Workshops are subject to minimum enrolment numbers.

TAFE Queensland can also offer this program to business/corporate clients in the workplace or at a TAFE Queensland campus, if required (subject to minimum numbers). Please enquire with us to discuss how we can assist your organisation.
