Become a TESOL teacher
Open up career opportunities both within Australia and overseas with a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) course from TAFE Queensland. Our revised and updated TESOL qualifications will be launching in late 2022. Registrations are now open to secure your spot in these specialised courses.
With Australia’s migrant population continuously growing, qualified TESOL teachers are always in demand. Our TESOL training will qualify you to become a teacher or tutor and will give you the skills you need to teach language and literacy to students from a non-English speaking background in a variety of settings.
As a TESOL student at TAFE Queensland you'll learn from expert educators who have a high degree of technical skills and knowledge. In fact, in 2022 our TESOL courses were recognised by the NEAS (National English Language Teaching Accreditation Scheme), with the NEAS tick recognising high quality education and training.
Our courses will give you the hands-on skills you need to confidently teach spelling, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing, speaking and listening to students from a non-English speaking background. You’ll also have the option to customise your study journey with topics including designing a syllabus, creating a culturally inclusive learning culture, developing resource files, assessing ESL learning, and teaching English for academic purposes.
TAFE Queensland learning environment
We offer our TESOL training online for the theory units with the option of course completion through a face to face practice teaching experience at one of our TAFE Queensland campuses. You can immerse yourself in your study experience and take advantage of our many on campus services and facilities. While studying online gives you the flexibility and freedom to study when and where it suits you. You’ll be supported by our dedicated teaching staff who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with the next generation of teaching professionals
