Important information for students enrolled before September 2018

In late August 2018, TAFE Queensland implemented a new student records system that resulted in all students being issued a new student number. Only those students who were undertaking study in the last half of 2018 were provided with their new number.

During 2019, TAFE Queensland will expand access to the student self-service system. If you don’t already have your new nine-digit number you will need to obtain it from TAFE Queensland before enrolling or re-enrolling in order to utilise the system. You can use the student number look-up to get your new student number.

Frequently asked questions

Which student numbers will be changed?
In 2018, all student numbers were changed from the previous 10-digit student number to a new 9-digit student number. If you don't have your new 9-digit student number, use the look-up tool, or contact our Customer Service Centre on 1300 308 233.

Why is my student number changing?
In 2018 we implemented a new student records system and consequently changed to a new 9-digit, rather than 10-digit, student number. Your student number is used to log into TAFE Queensland computers/networks (using your student number and current password) and to access Connect (our learning management system), printing and library services, and on-campus Wi-Fi.

Will I need to change my current password?
No, if you have an existing password this will not change. Only your username will change which will be your new 9-digit student number. You will use the same password to login to TAFE Queensland computers/networks and to access Connect, printing and library services, and on-campus Wi-Fi.

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?
From 5.00 pm Friday, 10 August 2018 you will not be able to change or reset your password using the normal ‘change my password’ and ‘forgot your password’ features as we will be upgrading our systems with the new number.

You will need to speak to your on-campus library or customer service staff who can assist you with resetting your password.
If you are an online student please contact the TAFE Queensland Customer Service Centre on 1300 308 233.

The ‘‘change my password’ and ‘forgot your password’ features will be restored as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and we will let you know when this service is available again.

What if I need to loan a book from the library once I have my new 9-digit student number?
You will just need to provide staff with your old number or new 9-digit student number. Our Library Services team will be there to assist you with any issues you may have.

How do I loan books and ebooks from the online TAFE Queensland Library Network?
You will just need to use your new 9-digit student number. Your password will remain the same.

How do I print at the library once I have my new 9-digit student number?
As printing options differ between the TAFE Queensland campuses, please see our Library Services team who will be there to assist you with any issues you may have.

How do I access the TAFE on-campus Wi-Fi once I have my new 9-digit student number?
You will need to re-connect to the TAFE Wi-Fi using your new student number. Your password will remain the same.

How do I get help if I can’t access my account on Connect with my new student number?
Please check that you are using your new 9-digit student number. Your password will not have changed. If you have not received your new 9-digit student number you can use our online Student Look Up Tool to find out your new 9-digit student number. You will just need to enter your old 10-digit student number to be emailed your new 9-digit student number.

If you are still unable to resolve this issue please contact the TAFE Queensland Customer Service Centre on 1300 308 233.
