NEW STUDENT NUMBER

TAFE Queensland is building a new student self-service system and your student number has changed from a 10-digit to a new 9-digit number.

You will need to use this new 9-digit student number to access:

  • TAFE computers and network
  • Connect
  • library services
  • printing services
  • on campus WiFi

You should have received an email with your new student number on Thursday, 9 August 2018.  You can also access our LOOK UP to retrieve your new number. 

Please use your new 9-digit student number from Saturday, 11 August 2018.

IMPORTANT: YOUR PASSWORD HAS NOT CHANGED.  PLEASE CONTINUE TO USE YOUR EXISTING PASSWORD.

 

STUDENT NUMBER LOOK UP

You can use this Look Up to access your new student number.  When you input your old student number into the Look Up, an email will be sent to the most recent email address you provided to us, with your new student number.  If you didn’t provide an email address to us you will need to contact our Customer Service Centre on (07) 3307 4747.

Which student numbers will be changed?
All student numbers will be changed from the existing 10-digit student number to a new 9-digit student number.

How will I be notified of my new student number and when?
If you are starting or completing study between now and 31 December 2018 you would have been notified via email of your new student number.
You can also use our online Student Number Look Up tool to find out your new 9-digit student number. You will just need to enter your old 10-digit student number to be emailed your new 9-digit student number. Access the Look Up by clicking the link above.

Why is my student number changing?
We are upgrading to a new system and need to provide you with a new 9-digit student number so that you can log into TAFE computers/network (using your student number and current password) and to access Connect, printing and library services and on-campus Wi-Fi.

Will I need to change my current password?
No, if you have an existing password this will not change. Only your username will change which will be your new 9-digit student number. You will use the same password to login to TAFE computers/network and to access Connect, printing and library services and on-campus Wi-Fi.

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?
From 5.00 pm Friday, 10 August 2018 you will not be able to change or reset your password using the normal ‘change my password’ and ‘forgot your passord’ features as we will be upgrading our systems with the new number.

You will need to speak to your on-campus library or customer service staff who can assist you with resetting your password.
If you are an online student please contact the TAFE Queensland Customer Service Centre on (07) 3307 4747.

The ‘‘change my password’ and ‘forgot your passord’ features will be restored as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and we will let you know when this service is available again.

Do I need to get a new student card once I have my new 9-digit student number?
No, you do not need to get a new student card. You can continue to use your existing student card.

What if I need to loan a book from the library once I have my new 9-digit student number?
You will just need to provide staff with your old number or new 9-digit student number. Our Library Services team will be there to assist you with any issues you may have.

How do I loan books and ebooks from the online TAFE Queensland Library Network?
You will just need to use your new 9-digit student number. Your password will remain the same.

How do I print at the library once I have my new 9-digit student number?
As printing options differ between the TAFE Queensland campuses, please see our Library Services team who will be there to assist you with any issues you may have.

How do I access the TAFE on-campus Wi-Fi once I have my new 9-digit student number?
You will need to re-connect to the TAFE Wi-Fi using your new student number. Your password will remain the same.

What do I do if I don’t receive a new student number?
If you are starting or completing study between now and 31/12/2018 you would have been notified via email of your new student number.
If you have not received an email you can use our online Student Number Look Up tool to find out your new 9-digit student number. You will just need to enter your old 10-digit student number to be emailed your new 9-digit student number.

How do I get help if I can’t access my account on Connect with my new student number?
Please check that you are using your new 9-digit student number. Your password will not have changed.
If you have not received your new 9-digit student number you can use our online Student Look Up Tool to find out your new 9-digit student number. You will just need to enter your old 10-digit student number to be emailed your new 9-digit student number.

What if I have an assessment due that I need to upload to Connect and I can’t login?
Please contact your teacher to discuss your situation.

Will this affect my VET FEE-HELP loan?
No. This change will not affect your loan. We will be supplying the Australian Government with your new number so they can update their sytems.
