TAFE Queensland scholarships are available to support study of a wide range of qualifications from semester one, 2019 by providing up to $5000 to help cover the costs of study such as course fees, text books and living expenses.
TAFE Queensland CEO Mary Campbell said the scholarships provide an opportunity for Queenslanders everywhere to develop their skills and gain a qualification to secure jobs in some of the largest and fastest growing industries.
“We know the power vocational education has to change people’s lives and help them achieve extraordinary things,” Ms Campbell said.
“I encourage anyone looking to start their career or make a career change to apply."
Two types of scholarships are available: merit, and access and equity.
Merit scholarships are designed to support people who have demonstrated strong levels of achievement to advance their careers.
Access and equity scholarships are designed to help students who are battling social or financial hardship.
This year, TAFE Queensland will again work with the Queensland Government to offer Advance Queensland – TAFE Queensland Pathways Scholarships program.
Minister for Innovation Kate Jones said the program provides an opportunity for more Queenslanders to embark on STEM-related careers including nursing, engineering, science, and technology.
“This program is opening up doors and removing barriers to study,” Ms Jones said.
“These scholarships are helping Queenslanders gain the educational qualifications they need to be job-ready now and into the future.”
Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman said the scholarships, funded by Advance Queensland, were a terrific opportunity for students to improve their chances of getting employment or going on to further study.
“Financial support like this is invaluable when you’re starting down the path of a new and exciting career,” Ms Fentiman said.
Applications for TAFE Queensland scholarships to support study in semester one 2019 close on 31 August 2018.
