Professor Jimmy Choo OBE is one of the most celebrated and recognisable names in fashion globally and fell in love with Queensland after partnering with TAFE Queensland to host a series of technical training workshops and fashion industry events in Brisbane last year.
TAFE Queensland Brisbane Region Manager of Fashion Design, Film and TV Helen Stanley said Professor Jimmy Choo is the epitome of design elegance and style and this scholarship will provide a pathway into one of the world’s largest industries.
“Professor Choo OBE is a firm believer in innovation through applied learning and that’s exactly what we do at TAFE Queensland – learn by doing,” Ms Stanley said.
“Our students are constantly balancing study, work, family and friends - all of which on a shoe string budget - and this scholarship will alleviate some of the financial pressures of studying and help cover things like course fees, text books and living expenses so they can concentrate on their studies,” she said.
Ms Stanley said Professor Choo OBE’s visit last year was profound and is shaping the training of future fashion students at TAFE Queensland.
“When Professor Choo OBE visited last year he made us all look at shoes differently; they’re a very important part of our wardrobe and they must have style, elegance and most importantly, comfort,” Ms Stanley said.
“Receiving a TAFE Queensland-Professor Jimmy Choo OBE Fashion Scholarship and having it listed on your resume will be extremely impressive to potential employers and will open doors to the world,” she said.
