With a foundation of higher education in both popular music and international business (marketing and management), Ben is currently teaches across certificate, diploma and bachelor qualifications in music and sound production.
A current music industry professional, he is also a performer, music producer, session musician and musical director for a variety of creative acts which enriches the learning experiences of his students.
In addition to performing with well-known artists including Anthony Callea, Mahalia Barnes and Tim Campbell, he works as the Musical and Technical Director for Australian cross over country music star Casey Barnes and performs as the bass player in his touring and corporate acts.
His work has taken him all over Australia, with main stage feature appearances at music festivals such as CMC rocks, Gympie Muster and the Gold Coast’s own Groundwater Music Festival as well as overseas with a mainstage appearance at renowned California festival ‘Country Summer’.
“In my time teaching at TAFE Queensland our music programs have come a long way from humble beginnings in a small class room to a purpose built world-class, state-of-the-art facility at Coomera,” said Ben.
“Aside from the facilities we have an amazing teaching team in the music department who are all out there doing it professionally when not teaching, and bringing this current knowledge back to the classroom.”
“I work with students from a certificate III school program level all the way to bachelor students, and it’s great to see the pathways that are available to students to continue to improve their standard of training and education and do it all in the one place with facilities and a teaching team they’ve come to know and build relationships with.”
“It’s a great feeling to see student’s progress from the classroom into industry and work in some of the largest venues and festivals in the country and even overseas,” he said
